Bare Floors and Boxes
Copyright 2008: Words and Wisdom

I pulled in the drive and hardly recognize

What I see on the front porch, what’s left of my life

This once was my home and now all that I own

Has been packed up and stacked up outside

I ain’t done nothing wrong, what the hell’s going on?

Is this I’ve worked for so hard for so long?

Is hardwood and cardboard the best I deserve

For all I’ve invested in gone

Bare floors and boxes the doors are all locked
Through the window I see what you’ve left here for me
A note on the door, you live here no more
And all that I’m left with this time
Are bare floors and boxes, inside out pockets

A lipstick red written goodbye and no reason why

I load them up one by one as I dial up your phone

And that all too familiar voice message comes on

I’m sorry I missed you as I set and listen

And patiently wait for the tone

To say I’ll be alright and move on with my life

Somewhere there’s someone who’ll love me tonight

This one’s for me, you know just where I’ll be

As the night falls I’ll keep you in mind

So now that I’ve paid for mistakes you have made

And fallen victim of the game that you play

I dust myself off, stand up and walk tall

Drove me crazy, but I drove away

Form bare floors and boxes with inside out pockets

A lipstick red written goodbye and still don’t know why
